Day of the Dead and More!

Hola Familias!

We are in the throes of learning about El Dia de los Muertos (The Day of the Dead) and are constructing ofrendas (shrines  to honor our loved ones, living and departed.

Students are incorporating their understandings of Day of the Dead vocabulary, festivities, and family traditions as they build and write about their ofrendas.

At the end of our unit, each student will present his or her shrine to his or her classmates in Spanish, using Spanish vocabulary and basic understandings of the infinitive verb, tener (to have).turkey-feather

Following this unit, we will engage in a short unit on giving thanks (doy gracias) by creating pavos de papel (paper turkeys). The turkeys’ feathers will serve as a medium for each child to write, in Spanish, about the many things for which they are grateful.

Adios for now!
