Our first spell checks were awesome!  Overall, the first few are spent getting to know and understand the routine.  It can be a bit overwhelming but, I am impressed with this amazing group.  

As for spelling homework, the sorting is one way to help learn the rule of the list.  In theory, if one learns the rule they would be able to spell any word presented as long as it followed that rule.  I am currently asking for one-two nights of practicing the sort and one more night of practicing however works best for each student.  This will get more refined as the year goes on and please let me know how it’s going at home.
