Keith Haring & Clay Piggy Banks!

Keith Haring Gesture & Movement Project

Artists experienced gesture drawing by drawing from their classmates’ poses! Keith Haring, an American artist and social activist, created vibrant and fun figures in his artwork. Haring creates movement in his figures through the use of line around the arm and leg regions and interesting color combinations. Artists used Haring’s artwork as inspiration to create their very own gesture artworks. These will be complete and hanging in the halls soon!

Reesa doesn’t move a muscle as she poses for a solid three minutes!
Henry exercised his arm muscles 🙂 He realized it takes a lot of strength to keep arms up for three minutes straight!
Miles begins to cut out his figure drawing.

CLAY  Piggy Banks!

Artists learned to make a clay piggy bank by sculpting two pinch pots and fusing them together. The challenge was learning to sculpt and add pig features on a clay sphere filled with air without popping it. Artists persevered and created some cute piggy banks 🙂
