Everyday in literacy we practice phonics or word work.  There are multiple sections in our phonics program and we just completed Spelling Patterns.  This is where we worked with vowel pairs and word patterns,  In these pictures the 2/3’s were working on a sort that included the /aw/, /ow/ and /ay/.  The 2/3 class had to decide which sound matched the vc(vowel, consonant) pattern.  We are moving into Word Meaning and Vocabulary followed by Word Structure.  These two sections are at the heart of the phonics program.  We have come so far as readers and writers!
