Engineers Improve on their Designs!

This week in STEM, the 2/3 class of engineers practiced an important step of the Engineering Design Process: Improve! After building paper houses with working circuits last week, they used what they learned about circuits to start troubleshooting their designs. They examined what was working, and what was not working: specifically, they investigated the LED placement, thinking about the positive and negative leads, the placement of the battery, and the placement of the copper tape. Using a checklist, they performed various tests on each of these three circuit features to identify areas where they could improve on their work. They also used a multimeter to test the voltage of their battery to make sure it was working properly. Using all of this knowledge, and improving on their circuit building, on Wednesday they started creating working circuits for their art displays on inventions. They are excited to share their art and circuits next week at the PBL share!
