Recorders!

Grade 2/3 are working on playing the RECORDER in music class.  We have taken the last few classes to talk about steady air, proper fingering and hand positions and have worked on the notes B, A, G!   We will be using the rest of the year to begin to earn our “belts”;  just like in karate,  students can progress through more challenging levels of songs as they eventually learn all 10 notes that we will be using this year.  We begin with our white belt, “Hot Crossed Buns”.  Some students built on last years skills and have already been rehearsing their yellow and orange belts as well.  I would encourage you to let your child have time to play his or her recorder at home. We are using the recorders as an opportunity to study notes on the treble staff,  as well as expression, dynamics and tempo.

We are also working very hard on our Cabaret ideas, which are coming along nicely!  Way to go,  2/3’s!!
