This week in STEM, the 2/3 class investigated the last ocean zone, the most shallow one- the sunlit zone! They learned about coral reefs, and adaptations such as countershading and coloration. They started brainstorming about what organism they’d like to create that is well-adapted to this zone of warmer termperatures, low pressure, sunlight, and various plants and animals! As they create their new organism, they have to think about how its body and behavior are well adapted to living in this particular ocean zone. Three layers of their educational mural on the ocean zones have been finished- the sunlit zone will be added as the 2/3s finish the mural next week. Check it out in Libby’s office!
