This week in STEM, the 2/3 class finished their mural about the zones of the ocean: the abyssal zone, the dark zone, the twilight zone, and the sunlit zone. For each zone, they learned about the temperature, pressure, light, and adaptations that organisms had that helped them survive in that area. Then, they applied what they learned to design a new organism that could survive in that particular zone. This past week, the 2/3s added their new organisms for the sunlit zone, focusing on countershading for camouflage, and streamlined bodies that allowed their organisms to move efficiently through the water.
