igpay atinlay!!

This week we learned pig latin!  We had our morning message written in pig latin and had to translate we also were challenged with translating english into pig latin.  For those of you who aren’t fluent in pig latin, it is where you take the beginning sound and move it to the end and add “ay” to the end of that.  Ex. pig = ig, igp, igpay .  This supports the word study we have been doing in class in a very interesting way.  The practice of pig latin supports what is called onset and rime.  This is when you look at a word in parts: beginning and end.  There are different rules for multisyllabic words and words that start with vowels.  It was a great week to test ourselves and our skills while applying them to a different language.

FYI – I intend to write this entire post in pig latin but the auto spell check was not working with me!
